Five Reasons Why Cheap Replica Cartier Tank Basculante Is Not The Other Reverso
They came together 12 months apart, both with rectangular reversible cases, and both built by Spécialités Horlogères SA. But the Reverso and the Tank Basculante faced a different fate. One of them spawned hundreds of models and celebrated its 85th anniversary earlier this year. The other would be one of the hundreds that make up a more extensive collection, and would rarely be seen again. But it would be wrong to compare these two models on their success. We got our hands on a model from the 90s to explain why—unanswered Difficulty With Rolex Replica Watch Exposed.
1. The Tank Basculante was never intended as a collectionBuying a patent is one thing. Owning it is quite another. While we're pretty sure the Basculante wouldn't exist without Jaeger-LeCoultre, Cartier's 'titling' watch is inspired by one of his own designs - and one that predates the Reverso. Born in the heat of the First World War and christened after one of the terrifying weapons, the Tank is one of Cartier's earliest wristwatches. This square and rectangular wristwatch, designed by Louis Cartier, was a pioneer of design in an era still dominated by round pocket watches. But the Tank was a hit, and the collection quickly expanded without straying too far from the original design, until 1933, when luxury fake Cartier watches introduced the Tank Basculante. Its foldable cover makes it one of the most interesting of all tanks, but it was never intended to outperform its predecessor in the collection.
2. The reversing mechanism is entirely different
While the Reverso uses a single track to carry the case from side to side on a horizontal axis, the Basculante folds upside down in a swinging frame, a trick that requires an entirely new solution and case construction, and a trick that could have been easily over-engineered. Instead, Spécialités Horlogères SA (later integrated into Jaeger-LeCoultre) designed a simple system, where the watch was mounted on a frame secured with a spring-loaded ball bearing, which can be released from top to bottom. While it is not as easy to operate as the Reverso, it offers better protection for the mechanism. Of course, the extra frame adds eight edges to the design, but this is where Cartier's Epicurean flavor comes in. They are all beveled and polished, while a perlage finish is applied to the inner part of the housing.
3. It is also much more versatile
Because the case of the Basculante can rotate 360 degrees, it can stand completely upright, even if the watch is placed on a flat surface, which is very useful if the owner wants to carry a timekeeper without having to wear one. In that case, he or she can transform the Basculante into a handy table clock.
4. Although the movement originated, it is arguably better
The movement in the Basculante is arguably more impressive than that of the Reverso. You read it right. Of course, it comes from Fréderique Piguet. But the manually wound caliber 6.10 (luxury fake Cartier calls it quality 610) is a beautiful example of miniaturization and finishing. At just 2.1mm thick, it rivals today's ultra-thin movements, even though it was made almost 90 years ago. Although the watch must be opened to be admired, the timepiece has been carefully finished with relief decorations, instead of the typical Côtes De Genève adorning F. Piguet's caliber.
5. The overall design isn't bad either
Cartier may not have been a full-fledged manufacturer when the Basculante was created, but what gave the Parisian jeweler to the watch industry at the time was a groundbreaking vision of design. Louis Cartier finished rectangular wristwatches before the Swiss could, and the mansion would continue to improve and adapt the iconic Tank. Now perfectly symmetrical, thanks to the crown placement at 12 o'clock, the Basculante is a lesson in understated elegance. While others focused on the timepiece, Cartier's full attention was thrown into the stunning silver guilloche dial, with stunning details like their secret signature, hidden in the Roman numerals at 7 o'clock.
Final thoughts
When the stars are aligned, a watch manufacturer will create a model that will spawn an entire collection. They did so briefly in 1932 for the Reverso but must have returned to their original positions by the time the Basculante was released. Replica watches Omega and Breitling Navitimer replica for sale. Perhaps the latter would have been more successful had the French Maison pushed it with more enthusiasm, but in troubled times, cheap replica Cartier watches would have been put to the test, before being put to the test recently.
